Night 7

Favorite Female Character (via @CindyLouLouBear)

I simply adore Sookie. She’s strong & loving & actually reminds me a lot of my Human when she was younger. But, as much as I identify with Sookie, there’s one woman that just knocks my socks off. *grins*
Pam Ravenscroft has so many things , big & little, that make her the force that she is.
Pam is Eric’s progengy, & therefore is fiercely loyal to him. I find that admirable.
Just when TB was painting pictures of Vamps being frightening & seeing humans as blood bags; we were introduced to Pam. She’s straight out of a 1930’s Film Noir. Pam’s a Femme Fatale, who has fondness for the finer things in life. Shoes, Lovers, Blood & Eric. She’s the bad girl in all of us that wants to have that killer one liner to put the assholes in their place. Pam certainly does not suffer fools. In fact, she eats them.
But beneath all that, Pam has a love for Eric that surpasses any tangible thing or feeling. She loves him & always will. When she watched him almost burn in the parking lot of Fangtasia , my heart ached for her. After all “How could she lose him to someone named Sookie!”
The Best Part of Pam though, is that she simply IS Pam. There is no one more fabulous, or loyal, or with better shoes than Miss Pam.

Season 4 MVP: Sam Trammell (via @EricNorthmanSVM)

Sam doing Tommy doing Sam was one of the most astonishing piece acting I’ve ever seen. He could have gotten away with a few mannerisms and most likely no one would have been disappointed but he slam dunked it with that little hip maneuver and chuckle after he fires Sookie. The posture, the strut, the cadence of the voice and the nervous hands. It was all an amazing showcase of Trammell’s talent.

Changing the Fate (via @Aly_x)

IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE FATE OF ONE CHARACTER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND HOW WOULD YOU CHANGE IT?

I find myself once again picking Godric for this evenings post.

How would I change it? I think that’s self explanatory – by not allowing him to meet the sun.

I’d give him some sense of purpose, some way of redeeming himself. Don’t ask me what because I really don’t know, but something completely unselfish. I’d also change his fate so that he’s around to help Eric kick Russell’s ass, would be nice to see them teaming up together. We only really saw them fighting/interrogating/working together when they were dealing with the werewolf when they were in the SS, it would be wonderful to see more of them together like that. It would also be nice for Godric to get to follow up on the whole ‘We will find him’ thing, I really want them to stop him together as they had planned to do in the past!

I understand his death in a way was needed, it made Sookie realise the softer side of Eric and care for him a little more but to be honest I’m getting fed up of TB revolving around Sookie and her ‘precious fairy vagina’ – I want more action, more fighting, more blood and more concrete plot lines. I adored season four because it was cute (okay, Eric was cute and that was about it) but I hated it because shit all happened in development of the story until the final episode where everything seemed to happen all at once (Marnie dying, the burning of Eric and Bill, Sookie kicking them both to the curb after she heals them, Tara getting shot, Debbie being shot, The Authority sticking their noses in, Nan Flanagan dying, Russell getting out of his cement grave etc etc….)

Anyway! Back to the main topic! I would change his fate so that he lived and made an attempt to redeem himself, he could save Eric (and Nora…) from The Authority and Russell as well as start bridging the gap between humans and vampires. He coulda proven useful to have around in seashttps://fangathon.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpon five!

But alas, the sunshine took him from us 😦

Finally, we get more news on Stephen Moyer’s movie The Barrens, it will be shown at Cannes. Source

Synopsis from Dreadcentral, more photos HERE and poster HERE

Despite their reluctance, Richard Marlow (Moyer) takes his wife, Cynthia (Kirshner); their young son, Danny; and his teenage daughter, Sadie, to the Pine Barrens for a long weekend of camping and family bonding. As they arrive at the Wharton State Forest, a mutilated deer runs out into the road, nearly colliding with the Marlows’ car. Later that evening another bloodied animal falls from a tree. Bad turns to worse when, in the middle of the night, a college boy camping nearby disappears into the woods. Nevertheless, Richard presses the family to hike farther into the forest to the spot where he used to camp with his father. He is feverish, and a past wound on his arm appears badly infected, but when it begins to rain, there is no turning back. Richard’s sickness soon becomes debilitating; his headaches turn to hallucinations. What’s worse, he believes there is something stalking them…something with yellow eyes, pointed horns, and the wings of a bat – THE JERSEY DEVIL. The disfigured bodies of the missing camper and another college boy soon turn up. The Marlows must fight for their lives as the horrifying answer reveals itself in a shocking and tragic conclusion.

A Fateful Day (via @DarlingSookie)

The whole world seemed to slow down as the realization that one or maybe both of the vampires I have loved might be in danger. It was still early afternoon and both Bill and Eric would still be in their daytime slumber (though it is more like a death), for several hours.

I wasn’t entirely sure where Bill’s resting place was. It was truly any vampires most guarded secret. After all, for a creature that was seemingly all-powerful at night, they were completely vulnerable to anything during the day time hours.

Eric normally stayed in his bedroom at his house in Shreveport. But he had accidentally awoken me as he was preparing to leave and let’s just say, he never got his clothes back on.

Needed: True Blood Bro’s (via @JBDuRoneTB)

I’m practically the only guy I know that watches True Blood. I’m absolutely sure I’m the only guy I know that has read the book series it’s based on. For the life of me, I don’t understand why!

Other HBO dramas seem to have had a strong male following. There were plenty of guys I could talk about Rome with, same for Game of Thrones. But, I seem to be in an extreme gender minority when it comes to True Blood. If it weren’t for girlfriends and wives forcing the issue, there may be no male viewership for the show! (Do polls measure shows your significant other makes you watch for their demographics? They should!)

The common reason I hear is that most guys believe the show is essentially Sookie exclaiming “Beehl!”, while the aforementioned proclaims “Sookeh is mahne!”. Beyond that, the show has the occasional boobs and sex; as long as Mr. Skin is around, they don’t have to watch 49.5 minutes of drama to see 30 seconds of goodies.

HBO needs to figure out how to bring more guys as fans of the show. I’m not sure how they accomplish that… maybe come up with segments featuring some vamp-only sports? Overhand bowling, basketball with 50 foot nets, vamp MMA?

C’mon, even Twilight had baseball! (Don’t ask me how I know that…)

Fang-A-Thon Day 7: 5 Mistakes Vamps Make (via @VampKingBill)

5. Not keeping up with the fashion trends. Nothing is more pitiful than the vampire whose clothing is at least twenty years out of date. I mean, we vampires don’t need to be fashion plates, but we should all strive to make some effort. And muumuus are never acceptable.

4. Not learning how to use new technology. It’s never a good idea to anger your Sheriff or your Monarch because you don’t know how to get into your voice mail.

3. Hiding Talbot’s favorite cravat. Let’s just say it seemed like a good idea at the time.

2. Light colored carpets. Blood is almost impossible to get out entirely, no matter how quickly you act.

1. Drinking that bottle of Tru Blood that’s been sitting in the back of the fridge for who knows how long. It’s no real substitute for blood in the first place, but when it’s past it’s prime? Dead blood is more preferable than that.

True Blood Tunes (via @mswriteok)

If we’re blogging in the Fangathon, then every one of us knows Jace Everett’s tune “Bad Things” and if we ever got together, we could probably manage some pretty good harmony while we sing it, don’t you think?
We know Sookie sings with the radio and she tends to like powerful women singers like Mariah Carey and Carrie Underwood.
Still today, I’m going to have some fun and speculate what music our favorite residents of Bon Temps play to when they’re listening to their radios, MP3 players, etc.
Sookie’s musical tastes follow her mood. If she’s happy and things are going well with her vamp of the moment, it’s Black Eyed Peas because every woman has a little Fergie in her. I also can hear some Katy Perry in there too. “Firework” and “California Gurls” much, much more than “I Kissed a Girl.” If she’s depressed, I’m betting there is some Adele in her collection, as well as James Blount (“You’re Beautiful” is surely there) and John Mayer. When she’s had enough, I’m going for “Wish You Hell” by All American Rejects and Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You,” and if she’s mad enough, she’ll change the words.
Pam, now, will go for “I Kissed a Girl.” I think she also likes bands like Nine Inch Nails, say “Closer,” or a personal favorite of mine, “Sanctified.” The best lyrics in it say “Heaven’s just a rumor she dispells, as she shows you through the nicest parts of hell.” Sound like anyone you know? I’m betting men all over the world think of the Kinks song “Lola” and sigh, remembering their one night with Pam. I’m also thinking she may like chamber music on occasion when she remembers her past, and maybe ragtime.
Eric probably has an extensive collection of everything from Gregorian Chants to Kanye West. With a thousand years of seduction under his belt, he’s a connoisseur of music that helps women want to shed clothing–all the way from the days of lace-up corsets and petticoats to zippers and hooks. You know he’s got Barry White tucked away in there somewhere, as well as some Abba, A-ha and Golden Earring (all bands from the Netherlands). I’m thinking that the music collection at Fantasia is one of the largest in the vampire world.
Bill is more of a classical guy with a slant toward the Blues. His days as a Confederate soldier have given him a love for the tales of men and women done wrong, and his dalliance with Lorena made him a teaser of the ladies as he tickled the ivories and sang tunes with suggestive lyrics. He probably heard LeadBelly and JellyRoll Morton in person and has an amazing knowledge of all music based in the South. On the show, Bill and Sookie’s theme is the most haunting regular piece of music played. The mournful fiddle says it all.
Jason likes any rock and country music you can drink or screw to. I can seen him guzzling a beer and screaming “Freebird” at a Lynyrd Skynyrd outdoor jam as well as screaming lyrics along with the likes of Toby Keith or Tim McGraw. Sam, though he likes rock and country too, seems to be a bit more laid back. Picture him sitting on his porch, feet propped up, cracking open a cold one to any Kenny Chesney beach song, or listening to an old Journey or Boston album. I’ll bet he’s got a copy of several Brad Paisley albums too, because his sense of humor could not resist “Ticks” and “I’m Gonna Miss Her.”

10 Reasons Why Faeries Are Superior To Vampires (via @QueenFaeMab)

1. Sunlight. We don’t burst into flames! I mean can you imagine us fae watering our lovely flowers and all of a sudden we catch fire? “Somebody get the fire extinguisher! There’s a faery with flames coming out of her head!”
2. Silver. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE to accessorize. I would hate to be the one at the jewelry store with my skin burning and smoking. Store clerk: “Excuse me ma’am. The smoke coming from your neck and ears is making our sprinklers systems go off.”
3. Garlic. Now us fae are the best cooks and we know just how to season our food. Garlic is not only tasty, but very healthy too!
4. Long life without having to drink blood. I mean how yucky is that?! Having to bite people and drain them, just to survive? *gags*
5. We don’t have to sleep in a coffin or in the ground. How uncomfortable and dirty! Like I need to have severe back problems or worms crawling all over me. I’ll stick to my Serta mattress thank you.
6. We can eat food! Contrary to popular believe faeries eat more than just flowers and honey. We love a variety of foods!
7. Answering to “a maker”. Now it’s bad enough for most folks that have overbearing parents, but c’mon someone who basically owns your ass for all eternity or until they “release you”? No freaking way! As queen of all fae, I come and go as I please. *turns up nose*
8. Magical powers. Okay, okay so vampires are strong, can glamour, run fast and fly, but can they shoot pure energy from their fingertips? I think not. Our magic comes from nature and we channel it with such a force that even silly vampires get thrown back hundreds of feet!
9. Telepathy. Vampires can’t read anyone’s mind unless they glamour them and they sure as hell can’t communicate via their mind. I can hear thoughts and basically have full conversations without ever opening my mouth. Comes in handy when we fae go out to eat. Plus those vamps can’t glamour us! *giggle*
10. Poofing. For all the ways one can travel, poofing is by far the safest and fastest! Much faster than any vampire can run or fly. Even better, we save on the cost of gas and it’s better for the environment!
So to summarize all vampires suck…… except my wife of course. *smirks*

Why I love the True Blood comic books (via @TB_PamR)

True Blood 30-Night Fangathon: Night 7 #2012FangathonWhy I love the #TrueBlood comic booksIf HBO’s original series True Blood is the guilty pleasure for all you television fans, then the True Blood comic books and graphic novels are mine. I can’t seem to help myself. I just love the kitschy things. I’m also very pleased to say that, unlike the show upon which it is based, the comic book arcs have actually improved over time. Well, at least the storylines have. The artwork, as you can see, remains…distractingly bad. I mean seriously, how do you make me less recognizable than Lafayette? And if it weren’t for the gap in her teeth, there are places where Sookie and I could be twins. We won’t even discuss the abomination of what they do to Eric. Personally, I think it’s the art, and the fact that they manage to make my Maker…unappealing, that is to blame for the comic books not being more popular with Truebies. It’s intriguing to me that the show did such a great casting job and fell flat with the writing, while the graphic novels tell wonderful, cohesive tales despite what passes for art. The French Quarter has been my favorite arc thus far, but I enjoyed Tainted Love, which was the arc co-authored by Mike McMillian (our very own Steve Newlin). I have high hopes for the True Blood comic book series he’s authoring because I’m aware that he’s a huge Fables fan and a talented writer. His Lucid series was really quite good. I’m less sanguine about vampire Steve Newlin -shudders- there’s even more wrong with that than with the art work.

Day 7 #Deadlocked – My review. (via @SassyJessOB)

Deadlocked….

When I last wrote about this book I was half way through, having finished it last night quite happily I was in complete shock with the turn of events.
Many things are revealed in this book however most people seem to just want to know who Sookie is going to end up with and live happily ever after with in the next book.
This book sets the second foundation since Dead Reckoning the previous book and the way it was written gave me a lot of second thoughts.

My first thought is… Who is Sookie going to end up with in the next book? Now I have my theories.

1) it could be Sam. They could both finally realise together that as we all know is that Sam loves Sookie in one way and there the best of friends with what happens at the end of deadlocked I feel like there could be sparking some serious feelings after Sookie saves him.

2) It could be Quinn. Now Sookie has an up and down relationship with Quinn in the last few books, however they both never quite got to progress there relationship any further as Eric came into Sookie’s life and Quinn went and fell in love with someone else. But when Quinn called Sookie to say happy birthday and share his news with her, I felt sorry for him but I also knew that this is an opening, Charlaine Harris has put this back in to maybe make Sookie think she can maybe help Quinn and maybe fall in love with him again but this is just a theory.

3) However after also reading Deadlocked I’m afraid to say that I think Eric and Sookie’s relationship is going to fall apart as Sookie didn’t use cluviel dor for his situation, however I also think that maybe since the bond has been broken between Eric and Sookie that Sookie can no longer give an excuse for her feelings, she clearly and deeply loves Eric but if Charlaine is going to give Sookie everything she wants in the next book then maybe Eric is going to be able to give her children or something too. But to me that sounds silly and I feel stupid even writing about it.

There was a lot of pregnancies and engagements and so on in this book, maybe Charlaine was just pointing out to Sookie what she’s missing.
Either way I hope Sookie ends up with the right person.

I’m also glad to say that I’m really relieved that the Fairys have gone back now to there own world and won’t be in the next book at all. I was sad to see the departure of Dermot as he’s been nothing but a sweetheart to Sookie but we can officially rule out that she won’t end up with a Fairy.

The book has given me a lot of guessing to and from and it’s got a lot of problems going on but I’m happy to say that I’ve enjoyed reading it throughout. I will be sad to see how the series ends next year but I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

So get reading if you’ve been reading the other books!

Rewind in Time! (via @LuvBONESnTBlood)

I decided last night after seeing the trailer again that I wanted to start again from the beginning. I started watching from Season 1 again. Then today while sitting waiting for my breaks and tires to be done at the dealer I came across books 1-3 on my Kindle Fire (guess I didn’t remove them) and started reading from the beginning again. I figured I would go thru each book again like it was the first time. Going to see if I understand Alan’s response to why he changed some things so dramatically as he said “to let the character breathe”. That’s not working well in some areas..I love Lafayette I never realized how much I liked his character until he was gone so quickly in the book.

Day 7: Humans (via @Eric_NorthmanTB)

Humans have an important place in True Blood just as the vampires, weres, fairies, witches, etc. do. There are tons of humans on True Blood but there are two  that I have picked out as my favourites for tonight’s post.

In no particular order:

1. Adele Stackhouse

There’s not one thing that I don’t like about Adele Stackhouse. I loved her in the books and I loved her in Season One. She’s a sassy old woman that I would have loved to get to know. She doesn’t hesitate to tell you what she thinks or to chastise you for your manners. She’s a woman with a big heart. Not to mention an excellent taste in books. I’m just sad that we didn’t get to see more of her. I was happy to see her in Season 4 but a zombie/ghost!Adele just isn’t the same.

2. Lafayette Reynolds

I have loved Lafayette since we first met him in True Blood. That is actually something else that I will credit Alan Ball for doing right: keeping Lafayette around (for those who have read the books, we know that Lafayette meets his untimely end at the end of book one). Lafayette is one of those friends who would always be there for you if you need him. He’d tell you exactly what he thinks about something and he seems likes a generally fun person to be around. My only dislike about him in True Blood is this medium storyline. Can’t we have just one human in Bon Temps who is just human?

Two different reunions (via @TrueBloodMame)

In TB we often find parallels that contain mirroring events for very purposeful reasons. Thus, there are 2 outdoor sex scenes, one with Sookie and Bill in S1 and another with Sookie and Eric in S4. The first scene incorporates cemetery as a setting (thus symbolising death and decay) and the element of surprise and very little choice (the hand raising from the ground was used in several horror films, notably in Carrie), Sookie’s expression is one of pain and acknowledgement of futile resistance. Her yellow dress, a symbol of sun and light is dragged through the mud; the night here is a symbol of darkness and what lurks in it. This could also mirror Sookie’s dream of Bill where he lurks in front of her house, only to disappear and suddenly appear, shedding his clothes and baring his fangs but not suggesting sex. When Sookie meets Eric in ep 6 S4, the moonlight is shining as much light as possible giving us the opportunity to note the lush greenery, nature being alive (running water is associated with life force), there is no danger in this darkness, this night is made for lovers to unite under the subtle gaze of moonlight. The mannerism of both Sookie and Eric is one of gentleness, complement and cherishing the moment of being reunited and making love (suggesting that this act is natural and that they are in perfect harmony with each other and the nature around them). Again, this could mirror Sookie’s first dream of Eric which showed them both in perfect symmetry and symbiosis.

Both scenes are symbolically set under the moon and stars’ watch-perhaps to suggest fate (“written in the stars”) and also to remind us of the nature of the relationship, the first one of dominance and submission and the second one of equality and harmony.

Book vs. Series, part 1 (via @TrueBloodMame)

  • The first season of True Blood is the only one that is really close to the books, but there are still some differences. I’ve listed these differences but also some of the similarities.
  • The book, Dead until Dark, is made up of 12 chapters and there are 12 episodes in the series, but what happens in the chapters are not the same as what happens in the series.
  • There is no Tara in book 1, nor any Newlins or AVL. There is no vampire trial nor any Jessica.
  • It all starts with Bill coming to Merlotte’s and going off with the Rattrays and being saved by Sookie. The episode is exactly as in the book.
  • Sookie is attacked and Bill and Sam (as a dog) saves her. Bill gives her his blood and licks her head wound. He says that she tastes different.
  • The tornado excuse is the same.
  • Jason has a lot of on night stands, but no one special.
  • Lafayette is mentioned as a cook but only has a couple of lines talking about Bill and the way Sookie has changed.
  • When Bill comes calling, he is only met by Sookie and grandma, not Tara and Jason as in TB.
  • The Monroe vampires are more or less the same, but Malcolm, the leader, is described as tall, with long rippling dark hair and a magnificent build, not exactly as seen in the series.
  • Sookie finds Dawn dead, but only by looking through the window and not by coming into her house. Dawn has a neighbor, J.B. du Rone, “lovely but simple,” and he used to go to school with Sookie and they’ve dated. She finds out about Dawn liking rough sex and vampires from him.
  • Sookie asks Bill to take her to Fangtasia. He says that Dawn has been to see him, offering herself to him the same night as the Monroe vampires were at his place.
  • Jason tells grandma and Sookie about Maudette getting killed in chapter 1. Jason is a suspect, but he is not on V as he hates drugs, just like Sookie, because of cousin Hadley who used to be a user but now nobody knows where she is.
  • At Fangtasia, Sookie shows Long Shadow pictures of Maudette and Dawn, but also a picture of Jason.
  • Eric is wearing boots, jeans, and a vest. Sookie amuses Eric and Bill is releaved that Sookie isn’t willing to leave him for Eric. Sookie saves the vampires and Eric is intrigued by her abilities.
  • When Bill makes his speech to the Glorious Dead, he is not waiting in the kitchen but he arrives late because of car trouble. The meeting is in the community building and not in a church.
  • Sam leaves Sookie at home after their date, they do not fall out with each other. She goes in alone and finds grandma dead. Jason comes there and hits Sookie. The police suspect Bill.
  • Grandma’s friends help clean up after the murder.

SPOILER ALERT: What’s In A Name? (via @EricSookieLover)

For today’s (Day 7) fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post…we’re focusing once more on the Southern Vampire Mysteries. This won’t be a Quopic of the Day, like I previously planned because…guess what? Charlaine Harris has revealed something you will find very interesting in regards to her last and final Sookie book, Dead Ever After!

This is what I would definitely call a MAJOR spoiler.

WARNING: If you don’t want to know – don’t read below!

As we’ve revealed in some of our posts from various Charlaine appearances and book signings, Eric’s other child (EOC) will be making an appearance in the last and final book, Dead Ever After.  We know she will have blonde hair and blue eyes, just like Sookie and Pam. We also know that she is fierce, just like Pam, only worse.

This is what Charlaine herself revealed in the forum at her website a little while ago!

3084 Maker – 2012-05-17 12:20

I will reveal Eric’s other child’s name. It’s Karin.

Charlaine Harris

The definition of the name Karin means: pure. It originated in Greece.

This got me interested in finding out what Eric and Pam’s names mean too.

The definition of Pamela means: honey. It also originated in Greece. Eric means: honorable ruler. It (of course) originated in Scandinavia. Just for kicks…I looked up Sookie’s name, but not surprisingly nothing came up.

Now it’s time for speculation…if Pam’s name means, honey…and we know what kind of vampire/character she is…imagine what someone who’s name means, pure will be like if it’s in a similar context? I have NO idea…but I’m dying to find out. I just hope she likes Sookie too.

What are your thoughts? Feel free to share your speculation below!
