Night 21

Day 21: Conjuring up Season 4 (via @Eric_NorthmanTB)

One of my favourite things about a new season is being able to listen to the actors/actresses’ thoughts on the previous season. I love hearing their insight to episodes and how they interpreted their characters lines or actions. I also love seeing the camaraderie between the actors/actresses and their stories that they have about shooting certain scenes (i.e. during the scene where the vampires were being pulled towards Marnie’s sunshine forcefield, I believe that it was Alexander Skarsgard who reported that it was hard for the group to stop laughing.

The insight to Season 4 proves to be just as awesome as the previous seasons.

TB spinoff series (via @JBDuRoneTB)

As usual, just some random thoughts from the mind of the ‘Dude. I sense this series has just about run it’s course and will soon end. Are there some possible spin off series that can arise from the ashes? Here’s a few thoughts;

Dukes of Hot Shot – just some good ol’ uncles/daddies, running V in Renard Parrish in a souped up Ford Pickup. Sheriff Dearborn chases, but never catches them. Saying “git, git, git” the whole time.

Terry, PI – Terry ditches Arlene and goes to live as a guest of a reclusive plantation owner and does private investigations. He gets to drive the estate’s red Massey Ferguson tractor and is intimated by the bloodhounds living on the property. Eddie returns as the fussy estate keeper.

Dr. Ludwig, Medicine Woman This is the feisty doctor’s backstory, who turns out to be incredibly long lived. This takes us back to her early days as a pioneer on the frontier, where she pulls a thorn out of the paw of a Were, becoming doc to the Supes. She was hot back then and had a British accent.

Bon Temps Got Talent Pam, Eric and Russell host a talent contest for headliners at Fangtasia. Losers aren’t just cut, they are eaten. And then they’ll eat their children.

Cooking with Talbot/strong Our favorite vampire chef whips up his favorite dishes, with an eye toward ease of preparation on a budget. Guests are invited for dinner… Well, to BE dinner.

Anna Paquin Glows at the True Blood Season 5 Premiere (via @DarlingSookie)

via JustJared.com

With so many other things on my plate this morning, I was pleased to find that JustJared.com already had several pictures of my face claim, the lovely Mrs. Anna Paquin-Moyer from last night’s True Blood Premiere.

I must admit, she is positively glowing and despite how anyone feels about the Bill/Sookie/Eric love triangle on the show, you can’t deny how adorably cute her and Stephen are. The couple looks truly happy and I think they just radiate when they are around each other.

I will be the first to admit, I didn’t go looking for spoilers from last night’s premiere. In fact, the only one that I have been informed about was something that I guessed from last season finale in regards to Tara’s fate. So truthfully, I am not surprised nor do I care what is to come, because this morning, I had a smile on my face just from seeing the joy on Anna’s and Stephen’s faces.

I’m not really sold on the dress she is wearing and though I’d have never picked out that suit, their happiness seems to make everything look just perfect.

I am not one who normally cares about hollywood’s couples. They hook up, sometimes get married, sometimes have a baby or two and then eventually it all leads to a scandalous break up. *yawns*

But when it comes to this couple, perhaps it is because we, Truebies, witnessed their chemistry during Season 1, or maybe it’s just the fact that they generally do not seem to obsess about needing to be in the spotlight… but whatever the reason, this is the hollywood couple that I truly hopes makes it work!

Fangathon Thursday (via @LuvBONESnTBlood)

Seeing how the season’s “try” (and I mean that so lightly) to coincide with the books if we had to leave Season 5 up to Dead as a Doornail I would be bored and pissed.

That book was my least favorite in terms of Great Vamp Business. We already know it barely had any Eric and Sookie in it to begin with so in a way I’m glad and looking forward to the other storylines True Blood is bringing forward this season with the Authority and supporting with Terry/Patrick and Lafayette/Mom. We needed something to help that out. I love Sam and all but that’s all side stuff compared to Eric/Sookie and vamp crew.

Thanks to everyone out there that posted them but especially EricandSookielovers for the excellent posts with Premiere photos and peeks. They seem to have the best photos and clear peeks out there. (Hope the peeks are on HBO Go soon)

I made a snippet from the sneak peak video from Dailymotion which I believe was courtesy of E! because I just love the expression on Eric’s (Alex’s) face!

From Tommy Lightfoot Garrett, go to the site for pics and more. Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have been staying very quiet about their baby news since announcing it to the world April 17 — until now! At the “True Blood” Season 5 premiere party in Hollywood on Wednesday, Moyer, 42, gushed about his wife of nearly two years (who is currently expecting her first child). “It’s always amazing,” Moyer, who has two children from previous relationships, said. “I love my kids so much. And I think that the fact that Anna is pregnant just adds more crazy to the bundle of fun. We are looking forward to this baby. And so far everything is going fine.”

SEASON FIVE RED CARPET PREMIERE (via @Aly_x)

I woke up to see my dashboard covered in photos of the premiere, I was in heaven!

Anyway, some familiar faces showed themselves and it got me wondering as to why they were there…were they there purely because they had been part of the family for a season (or two) or were they there because they have parts in this new season? Personally I’m hoping it’s the latter of the two!

We all know Edgington is back this season, so it was no surprise to see Denis O’Hare there last night 🙂

Kevin Alejandro was there however, we have plot lines regarding the vast majority of the cast but I haven’t witnessed anything concrete (HAHAHAAA!) with Lafayette yet, maybe Jesus keeps him company for a while?

Michelle Forbes was there too, now Maryann was killed off so I’m unsure as to why she was present (if we’re going with the idea that their appearance at the premiere means a part in the new season), however, perhaps we get to see the aftermath of the complete clusterfuck that occurred while she was taking up Sookie’s home?

And my personal favourite of the night, ALLAN HYDE WAS THERE GUYS! 😀 We all know Godric met the sun (sobs) but we had ghostly appearances over seasons three and four, maybe we’ll have more of them or perhaps we’ll get flashbacks this season considering the new addition of Nora? 😀 Either way, so long as Allan is back on my screen I don’t care<3

On top of all of the lovely new photos we got, we also received clips from the first episode!

The perils of using Google translate (via @TrueBloodMame)

As one of us here is a Swede and I have read a number of fanfics where Eric has talked Swedish, or rather google’s version of it, we would like to help those of you wanting to learn some Swedish with the correct way of saying it. To give you an example, we have a couple of pictures to help illustrate what you might find.

Imagine that you have succeeded in getting Eric – or Alex – into making love to you, what do you want him to say to you

– Du är min! (You are mine)

– Du är gruva! (You are a mine)

The second one was used frequently in a fanfic I read and I couldn’t understand why he would go one about her cave, but I finally got it and had a good laugh.

So if you have any questions or phrases you would like to learn, please drop us a note and we’ll do our best to help you out 🙂

True Blood Casts Two More For Season 5 (via @EricSookieLover)

In the latest news from the casting couch…we have a couple of roles which have been cast for True Blood Season 5! One of them in particular, hails the return of a past character from Season 3!

WARNING: If you don’t want to know – don’t read below!

We’ll share the “return” of an old character first. This was taken from EW.com and this is what they said;

EW has learned exclusively that Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Alfre Woodard will return as Ruby Jean Reynolds, the schizophrenic mother of Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) last seen in season 3. Ruby Jean was a patient in a local mental hospital and under the care of Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), who later went on to have a tragic romance with Lafayette.

Woodard was nominated for an 2011 Emmy — Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series — for the Blood role. She’s set to appear in episodes 5 and 6 of the HBO series, and possibly more.

Personally, I’m glad to see the return of Lala’s mom. I wonder what kind of trouble or turmoil she’ll create in Lala’s life next?

Next up in the latest news from the casting couch…TVLine.com is reporting this little casting news below.

Tina Majorino has landed a role she can really sink her teeth into.

The Veronica Mars alumna and current Bones co-star has booked a recurring gig on True Blood‘s upcoming fifth season, TVLine has learned exclusively.

She’ll play a key member of the Vampire Authority’s support staff who first appears in Episode 3, which is scheduled to air June 24.

Interesting…I wonder how this support staff will fit into the Vampire Authority storyline? Eric will more than likely be involved with Tina’s character somewhat during the season.

What are your thoughts? Feel free to speculate below!

Fang-A-Thon Day 21: 2012 True Blood Calendar (via @VampKingBill)

Can you believe we’re already half way through the year? A few more months and it’ll be that time when Calendar Clubs start popping up, and book stores will start putting out calendars for 2013. Now that I’ve owned a few, I thought I’d give you my thoughts so that for those of you who haven’t purchased one before can decide if 2013 is the year that you’ll take the plunge.

First, the good:

– Given that a lot of True Blood merchandise can often be priced a bit higher than what you might expect for it, the calendar is competitively priced at $13.99. Plus, those with patience can get them for less as they go on sale. Wait til Christmas and you can get anywhere from 40%-50% off making this a good deal.

– The production quality of the calendars is good: the calendar is on the larger side and made on heavy card stock.

The neutral:

– Pictures are always a season behind. That mean for the 2013 calendar you can expect to see Marnie, but no Roman (sorry Chris Meloni fans!). This seems to occur across various shows, so I have a feeling this is simply the result of the production schedule. Still, it can be a disappointment if you’re expecting to see a certain season-specific character appear.

The bad:

– I can’t help but shake the feeling that HBO doesn’t put in much effort when it comes to the calendars. I say this because not only are the calenders made with what essentially screen caps (stills from an episode), but they often don’t even choose flattering pictures of the given actors. To whit, here are the six of the twelve months of this year’s calendar:

Jessica, and to a lesser extent Sam look more than a little off in their shots. I find it difficult to believe they couldn’t have found a better picture to use. I will say that this years calendar is an improvement – for 2011′s “Men of True Blood Calendar” they actually cropped pictures so everything was in an odd letter box format. Not appealing at all! Now, I don’t blame True Blood for going the screen cap route – they’re far from the only show that has done so, but for a company that’s so promotion driven it just seems odd that they can’t do more. And more can certainly be done. Below is a picture from the last calendar that Heroes put out before it was ultimately cancelled:

See the difference there? The main photo is a promotion-quality photo (part of me wants to say the shoot was done specifically for the calendar, but don’t quote me on that), the smaller photo is a screen cap but one well chosen that fits with the theme. Speaking off, each page feels like a page out of a comic book, appropriate given the nature of the show. They even go so far as to give you information about the character, in this case his name, his known aliases, powers, previous jobs and relationships. In short, it’s obvious that a fair amount of thought and effort was put into the production of it and at at the same price price point . When I compare the two, I just can’t help but feel that there is no comparison to be made and it makes me wonder why HBO couldn’t do more when it’s clear they can do amazing things when they try.

Am I going to buy the 2013 edition? Maybe. I bought the 2012 version because I couldn’t find anything else to grab my interest. Whether I’ll buy this year’s version will again likely depend on whether anything else captures my eye. I’d suggest that you do the same. Otherwise, if you’re going to buy it regardless, wait until it’s on sale. HBO can do better. Let’s encourage them to try.

R is for… (via @TrueBloodMame)

Russell Edgington – the king of Mississippi and the vampire who killed Eric’s human family

“Does that help you decide, America? Do not turn off the camera! You’ve seen how quickly I can kill. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Russell Edgington and I have been a vampire for nearly 3000 years. Now the American Vampire League wishes to perpetrate the notion that we are just like you and I suppose in a few small ways we are. We’re narcissists. We care only about getting what we want no matter what the cost, just like you. Global warming, perpetual war, toxic waste, child labour, torture, genocide. That’s a small price to pay for your SUVs and your flat-screen TVs your blood diamonds, your designer jeans your absurd, garish McMansions! Futile symbols of permanence to quell your quivering, spineless souls. But no. In the end, we are nothing like you. We are (chuckles) immortal. Because we drink the true blood, blood that is living, organic and human. Mm. and that is the truth the AVL wishes to conceal from you. Because let’s face it, eating people is a tough sell these days. So they put on their friendly faces to pass their beloved VRA but make no mistakes, mine is the true face of vampires! Why would we seek equal rights? You are not our equals. We will eat you after we eat your children. Now time for the weather. Tiffany?”

True Blood’s kiss (via @mswriteok)

Everybody here likes vampires: that’s apparent.
They are sexy creatures, exuding dark sexuality, hinting at secrets of the universe, promising pleasure as they sink their fangs into any number of veins of their human, uh, willing partner (most of the time anyway).
That’s the one downside. That pesky bite.
A vampire can make it pleasurable if they choose. Even the un-glamorable Sookie Stackhouse can enjoy it if it’s done the right way.
She has experienced it the other way as well, and like everyone else, she prefers to enjoy it.
Before Bill and Eric used a bit of their own precious blood to instantly heal the wounds their bites left, Sookie had to wear bandannas around her neck to hide the holes.
You know the vamps had to know this trick for about as long there have been vampires, so why did it take Bill so long to do this small courtesy for Sookie?
Evidently Eric does it for her all the time, because I’ve never seen fang marks on her after one of their trysts.
Anyway, as someone who has had more than her fair share of needle sticks, I think a pair of fangs piercing skin would be extremely painful, at least at first.
What do vampires do to make it sound like a good idea? If it’s not glamoring, what is it? Do that exude pheromones that make humans turn into willing victims of seduction by bloodshed? Do they whisper some magic words (Oh Sookeh, let meh bite yew? comes to mind in Bill’s case. Maybe it varies by vampire. Eric’s might be in Swedish.)? Is it part of the sexual thrall they throw off like an aura?
Seriously, I wonder.
It’s got to be something that keeps you from screaming in pain, that relaxes you into the embrace of the owner of the fangs, that will keep you calm and happy while they drain you to the point of death.
Maybe they can release some sort of local anesthetic from their fangs at will, something so fast acting that it works from the time they extend their fangs to the moment they connect with your skin.
They should synthesize that and sell it to pharmaceutical companies. That is one hell of a local painkiller.
But, considering all things, I’d rather get it from a vampire, but only if I get to pick who does the biting.
Because Eric can sometimes be excitable, I think for a first bite, I’ll try Bill.
Order up.

A Telepathic Barmaid: A Tale of a Realistic and Modern Heroine (via @DarlingSookie)

In a world filled with supernatural beings just hiding within the shadows of the human world, a likely suspect for a heroine might be one of the all-powerful supernatural. But in the world created by Charlaine Harris, a young woman who is seemingly normal with the exception of her peculiar eyes and strangely tense smile stepped up as such a heroine.

Sookie Stackhouse is just your average mid-20′s Southern gal. She pays taxes, works a steady job, has plenty of friends and cares for her family. Of course, she’s got a bit of a “disability” (as she likes to refer to it), she is forced to hear the thoughts of those around her.

One wouldn’t suspect that such a simple character could ever rise to become a heroine of a sorts, but from my point of view, Charlaine has created the perfect one in her creation of the young Miss Stackhouse.

True Blood Season 5 Premiere Best Dressed List (via @TB_PamR)

Arlene (Carie Preston)

Ginger (Tara Buck)Hoyt (Jim Parrack)

Nora (Lucy Griffiths)Kibwe (Peter Mensah)Salome (Valentina Cervi)

Normally, I give razzies at these kind of events. The sheer  number of bad, out of place, ill-fitting or poorly shod (Jason!) ensembles on the True Blood Season 5 premiere red carpet made that list impossible. So I’m offering kudos to those who actually managed to pull it together and look just right last night.

This Fangathon seems determined to get me to say things I ordinarily wouldn’t -frowns- so hear goes: My pick for the best dressed of the evening goes to…Arlene (Carries Preston) whose white pantsuit manages to be casually glamorous and perfectly lovely for this busy waitress.

Oh, and among the men I was tempted to be nice to Alan Ball, who cut a decent figure despite all the competition, but the best dressed award has to go to the Authority and Kibwe (Peter Mensah) whose perfectly fit suit was understated elegance at it’s best.
