The Kickoff to the True Blood Fang-A-Thon 2012

So congradulations to me! I’ve Just embarked on a 30 day long journey that will make me blag about TrueBlood every single day for thirty days! Now you may be asking yourself. How is this different from any other day on your blog? Well, because…

image

I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS THAT NEED TO BE RELEASED IN THIRTY DAYS OKAY

let us all say this prayer, and we can get through this together.

Trueblood will air on HBO in 30 days,

I can take my plastic fangs out of the case,

and open the bottle of trueblood.

Eric shall always be a shirtless viking God,

and Bill will always love Sookie.

I pray to HBO and every fan of trueblood, that I can one day stop reading “Sookie” as “Sookeh”

Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and Faes…oh my! (via @lynntulloch)

For the next 30 days, along with my regular blogs, I shall be blogging about one of the great loves of my life.

This is the series of books known as ‘The Southern Vampire Mysteries’ written by Charlaine Harris these are also known as the Sookie Stackhouse books or the True Blood books. I know that you will probably have heard of at least one of these, but in case you haven’t been lucky enough to fall in love with Bon Temp yet, Ill give you a little introduction about Sookie’s world on paper and on TV, because they are actually different in some ways.

Now that we have that bit out of the way, Ill start with a quick introduction to Bon Temp.

True Blood and The Sookie Stackhouse books are set in an alternate reality where vampires have come out the proverbial coffin and proclaimed their existence to the world. They don’t have to drink blood anymore as it is now synthesised and bottled under the name True Blood and even comes in different blood types. Very convenient for the discerning vamp about town who wishes to stay within the law.

Day 1 (via @FangbangerEst89)

okay i have just recently started reading the SVM books. I’ve been wanting too and finally got a hold of them and just recently got my glasses fixed as well lol. but will be blogging of that later as i read more into the series.

Top Ten list of things excited to find out when TB Returns on HBO:

Ode to Godric (via @JBDuRoneTB)

The debate among TB/SVM fans over Godric seems to be as hot a topic as Eric vs. Bill. Or Book Sookie/Show Sookie. Or Quinn. Or Tara. But I have to give this one to Alan Ball; I love what he did with Godric. To me, the most stirring scene during the entire True Blood series continues to be Godric and Sookie on the rooftop in Dallas. That scene was beautifully written, stirringly directed and stunningly filmed. That storyline also revealed Eric’s love and devotion for his Maker, which places me firmly in the Viking camp. (There you are; two big reveals about myself in the first paragraph!)

Askarsapalooza (via @TBconfid)

Last night was the US premiere of Battleship and today it’s all about the Askars, and really isn’t that how it should be? B-Sleuth was there and has many good pics as you can see on her site here, I had no idea Joe M was there till her pics were posted.

True Blood 30-Night Fangathon – Day 1 (via @EricNorthmanSVM)

Early True Blood – I miss the feral Bill who walked into Sookie’s life in that very first episode. He was the epitome of the dark handsome stranger.

FANG-A-THON NIGHT 1 – Favorite Pam Quote (via @Aly_x)

‘Holy Shit Gentleman, do not tell me you’d put our entire species at risk for a gash in a sundress.’

It was really difficult for me to pick for this one, the writers give Kristin all of the best snarky lines. Coming in at a close second was ‘That tree with the plaid shirt has a name?’

I love how respectful she’s being to Eric and Bill with the whole ‘gentlemen’ thing and yet she then insults in a rather crude manner the one thing those two vampires share in common, the one woman they both happen to be romantically interested in.

Fang-A-Thon Day 1: The New Posters (via @VampKingBill)

So now that we’ve hit the 30 day mark, the marketing blitz by HBO will undoubtedly go full tilt, starting with the release of the “Everything is at Stake” campaign. My first impression? I like the posters. I like the fact the you know who the humans and know who the vampires are. I like that they aren’t full face shots. There’s a certain level of drama here without going over the top and the color scheme fits in perfectly with their preferred motif of black, red and white.

True Blood Fan Favorite Moment: Lust Winner (via @DarlingSookie)

HBO and True Blood have been askin’ for the fans to vote on their favorite True Blood moments.

It’s no surprising that the winner of the Fan Favorite Moment for the theme Lust was the Eric’s first fantasy of Sookie. Though I admit, I’m a bit confused as to why they used a screen cap for Season 3′s infamous Eric and Sookie first kiss?

Eric Northman’s Distraction (via @missxflawless)

It’s not every day Eric is distracted by exquisite beauty.  After a thousand years, there is very little that distracts him, or piques his interest.  He’s old, seen everything, remained unchanging while the world changed around him because he chose life over death, because recognized his addiction to living and while it may have been braver to die, Eric still chose life.

Sookie Stackhouse walked into his bar on a balmy Thursday night in June.  His entire world was turned upside down on a balmy Thursday night in June, by a thin, blonde waitress from Bon Temps who could hear people’s thoughts, but not vampire’s thoughts.  His entire would was twisted by a not-so-human human girl with pretty hair and skin that looked like it was carved from bronze.  His entire world shifted under his feet because of a young woman with eyes so bright a blue they rivaled that of the deepest Mediterranean seas.

Rhinestone Shades or Cheap Sunglasses? (via @msdavisOK)

Had the radio on in my car the other day and there it was, the fuzzy guitar, driving bass and the steady drumbeats that create ZZ Top’s up-way-too-ate-drinking anthem, “Cheap Sunglasses.” It made me think, as I sang along with it at the top of my voice, that vampires, like sunglasses, come in two classes.

Depending on who’s writing, how old the book or movie is, those creatures who subsist on blood are either filthy, skeevy, nasty critters who would just as soon rip your throat to pieces as not, or they are spectacuarly beautiful, dressed in the latest edgy fashion and sip their red nectar through discreet bitemarks in a hard-to-see places.

Well, Bill didn’t do that the first time he tasted Sookie, so for that he gets some cheap sunglasses. He knew then he could have “erased” those telltale fanghole-hickies with little effort on his part, but maybe it was part of his plot to show “Sookie is mine!”

Day One – 30 Day 2012 Fang-A-Thon (via @DemonXDiantha)

Day One: Favorite Female Character from Season Four

I know, I know. I can hear your angry screams and see you shaking your fists. But unfortunately, my last fuck to give just went on vacation so it sucks to be you. I loved Debbie in Season Four.  She was trying so hard to get clean and stay clean. And okay, so she technically attempted to murder Sookie in cold blood. Can you really blame her? After fighting to be sober, she lost the one man she was doing it for. That would make anyone go a bit cray-cray. Maybe not enough to break into a house with a loaded gun, but hey, I can sympathize with her. She’s badass, she’s crazy, she’s a bitch. And that’s why she won this spot on my countdown this year.

Day 1 Fave Female Character – Tara Thornton (via @xXItsCoZmicXx)

Day 1 – WTF Tara? (via @Tara_ThorntonBT)

So people where do I even start? Let’s see. Maybe I’ll pick on one of my favorite characters from the series. I do have some personal ties to her as some of you may know.

Tara Mae Thornton

In the book, Tara Thornton is perceived to be a mild mannered girl with olive skin. You find though, in the books that she is a rather weak, and gullible character. In my opinion she’s spineless. OK the few things I do like about Tara in the book is she doesn’t quite make so many reckless decisions like show Tara. Plus she does get to settle down with JB DuRone. That to me, has some normal stability.

Lafayette Reynolds (via @QueenFaeMab)

The first The first scene where we really get to see Lafayette show his stuff was when a group of rednecks refused to eat his cooking because he’s gay. I love Nelson’s portrayel of him. His flair and attitude makes him fun to watch. Go Lala!

My Favorite True Blood Villain: Rene Lenier (@Rene_LenierTB)

I’m sure this comes as a shock to those who know me, but I have a soft spot in my cold dead heart for the Cajun who tried to kill Sookie and still haunts Arlene. I’m not so impressed with his attempt to frame Jason or wasting a cat on a ceiling fan when he could have given it to Bubba, but no ones perfect. -smirks- About the only good thing that witch did in Season 4 was bring back this cool Southern drink for a cameo.

[True Blood] Fang-a-thon: Day 1 (via @ShadeBlossom)

Just under the wire here, too. Wow. I don’t do things the easy way.

I first started reading the Southern Vampire Mysteries after my first, last, and only trip to San Diego Comic Con. My friend and I sat through the True Blood panel (I had no idea what it was about) because she loved the books and wanted to see what sort of swag came with the panel. It turned out that the promo swag included a paperback copy of “Dead Until Dark.”

Hadley, Russell Edgington and John Quinn….. (via @SassyJessOB)

In my first post in the 2012 Fang-A-Thon I thought that what could Alan Ball surely miss???

Now here’s the thing…..

I don’t think Alan Ball is a complete screw up, however he did bring Sookie Stackhouse to life and the darling Anna Paquin plays her better than anyone else probably could but with the recent topics of season 5 brewing, I’m not yet convinced the next series is going to be as good as Season 1 and 2 (which are my remotely favorite by far!) And here ill explain why….

Fang -A- Thon “Day 1” (via @LuvBONESnTBlood)

Where to begin today on Day One! Well it will be short as I am working on my Eric Northman page!

My opinion of the day is about the new Season 5 posters.

The Many Faces of Eric Northman (via @Eric_NorthmanTB)

Eric Northman has seen many different faces over the four seasons of True Blood. Eric has gone from a long haired to short. His styles have changed over the seasons. This past season, Eric didn’t really change his clothes. He went from his usually black attire to old and ill-fitting clothes, mostly because he had his memory wiped by a possessed witch and Sookie didn’t know what to dress Eric in.

So I thought, for my first blog for Fang-A-Thon, that I would comment on Eric through out the series.

True Blood’s Alternate Literary Source (via @TrueBloodMame)

Narnia is a very good name for the things that we see in the enchanted forest between Eric and Sookie and I’ll explain why when we get there. But we need to take a look at what Narnia is first.

Narnia is a series of books – 7 in total – by C.S. Lewis and tell the tale of a magical kingdom called Narnia. I will talk about the first and the second book in reference to TB and I’ll start with the first, “The Magician’s Nephew”. This is the story of the creation of the land of Narnia, but it starts in England with a boy called Dickon. Dickon and his sick mother stay with uncle Andrew and his sister in London. The uncle is experimenting with magic and he tricks Dickon and his friend Polly into travelling to an unknown place with the help of rings. The rings are made from dust from Atlantis that Andrew has gotten from his fairy godmother, Mrs. Lefay. The children come out of a pond into a place in the woods and they discover several other ponds/pools around the place and decide to explore before they go back home so they mark the right pond and try out another.

What It’s Like to be a (part) Were… (via @CindyLouLouBear)

So, What’s it like to be a werewolf? *chuckles* Well, I kinda know.. Maybe you’d be better off asking my friend Alcide Herveaux. Or if you just want to know about “weres” in general you could talk to my boyfriend, John Quinn. He’s a weretiger *grins* I know they know!

I’m only part were, so I don’t shift. But, Once a month, I DO know what it’s like to be affected by the full moon.

It’s…Intense. My senses are sharper, my smell is crazy~good! And My sex drive, well.. *blushes* that goes a little crazy~good, too!
